DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...Snow expected above 4000 feet. Total snow accumulations 4 to 8 inches, except up to 14 inches above 5000 feet. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph over high and exposed terrain. * WHERE...Western Siskiyou County above 4000 feet. This also includes Etna Summit on Sawyers Bar Rd at 5950 ft. * WHEN...From 8 PM Wednesday to 11 AM PDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Travel may be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday morning commute.

Cirrocumulus clouds form at high altitudes (usually around 5 km)
and have distinguishing characteristics displayed in a fine layer of
small cloud patches. These small cloud patches are sometimes referred to as
"cloudlets" in relation to the whole cloud formation.
Cirrocumulus clouds are formed from ice crystals and water droplets. Often, the
water droplets in the cloud freeze into ice crystals and the cloud becomes a
cirrostratus cloud. Because of this common occurrence, cirrocumulus cloud
formations generally pass rapidly.
